VISSIM Traffic Simulation

I don't know if you have the desire to watch 4 minutes of traffic flowing, but if you do, I have posted a video of a traffic simulation that I have been working on. Cheers!

Another look at my semester...

For one of my classes, I have to keep a transportation-related blog updated with fresh information about transportation issues. Below I've posted the link to the blog - it's not very exciting, but you can view it, if you'd like. They're really thrown together in my very small amount of spare time :)

A Couple Samples from This Semester

Alright, I promised I'd put something up on here soon. So here it goes:

This semester, I have a lab for another class that I have this semester. It's pretty fun because we get to break metal pipes and stuff like that with massive machines. Now I know what a 0.5 inch thick solid steel bar sounds like when it's pulled on until it snaps (it sounds like a gunshot)!

Below are a couple of graphs that I created in Excel based on the data collected in one of the labs. They are both stress-strain curves for a steel specimen and an aluminum specimen. Literally, stress is how much "pull", if you will, is exerted on the specimen. The strain is very simple - it's just the amount the material stretches. As you can imagine, steel and aluminum don't stretch very much - you can't even see it.

It's all pretty neat, and it makes a lot of sense. Enjoy the graphs!

I'm still here!

Yes, I'm still alive! I know I haven't posted on this - believe me, it's not for lack of desire, but for lack of time. I've been up until after midnight the last few nights cranking out homework, and it's seems like that will be the norm for this semester. Lots of work, but it's all rewarding! And it makes the time speed by, which is a very nice extra thing.

I wish I could type some more, but I'm due at a class in exactly 14 minutes. So, until I type again,
